My second home

Hello bloggers!

I know, over a month's absence (jeez that went fast) but here I am, back again!

For a week now I have been back in the city I lived in throughout 2008. My Mum still lives here and in a way I like to think of it as a second home.

The city? Wellington, New Zealand

The suburb? Ngaio

Yep, the last week has been spent appreciating the vastness of the natural beauty, the purity of the oxygen & the amazing Winter sunshine. All from the living room balcony!

So that's a little slice of Wellington for you. Off to Auckland tomorrow, so more photos to follow when I get back on Thursday.
Hope you're continuing to enjoy the Summer! Keep blogging!

Memories of San Francisco.

Have just enjoyed a low key weekend before a busy week of HE/careers advice tomorrow, surfing in Devon on Wednesday and Thursday and camping on Thursday night. Should be fun!

Thought this post should feature some photos from the beautifully photogenic city of San Francisco. As my Mum lives in New Zealand, we decided to go for a half way meet in April and San Fran seemed the ideal place. With so many great photo oppertunities (a combination of amazing light and countless viewpoints - hills hills hills!) I ended up with hundreds of photos. Here are some of my favourites:

Ok so wasn't my handywork, but I love this photo none-the-less =]

The classic icon, nicely complimented by two passing ships.

The dominance of straight lines in Downtown.

Negotiation in the atmosphere, Café Greco, North Beach.

Columbus Avenue, North Beach.

S is for... Macy's spelt backwards?

Through the wine glass, Sonoma, California.

Leaving my Heart.

Once again, hope you enjoyed =]

Hope your weeks are off to good starts! [Love to all]

The city of unexpected delights...

Well I'm pretty certain this week has been the hottest of the year so far, hitting 32 degrees yesterday =O which is pretty damn hot for ol' Bristol. Went to check out a new college today and to be blunt, I wasn't impressed. Gonna just stick it out at my current '6th form' for one more year, then uni here I come!!

Somewhere I discovered last week that I'm now dying for a uni place at is Glasgow. Yep, that big, dirty, overcrowded, intimidating city up in Scotland. That's what I thought.

But then I got there....

The university in all it's glory =]

Amongst the beautiful park of Kelvingrove, right in the heart of the West End....

And then there was, as always, the bizzare addition of modern architecture. It serves solely as a viewpoint, but I'm a fan of Glasgow Tower...

....Although sadly it was closed for maintenance.

Hope you enjoyed the photos =]

All that is left to say is take my word for it and check out this awesome city

The sky's incredible power.

The sky never fails to amaze me. Countless times I've witnessed a dramatic feature up there amongst the clouds and been without my camera, but here is a selection of some of my favourites involving the wonderous beauty that is... ^ up there.

Reflections in the Malverns. Worcestershire, UK.

The harbour's brewing storm. Baltic Wharf, Bristol, UK.

Preparing for downpour. Aurthur's Seat, Edinburgh, UK.

Mountain vs water. Grand Tetons, Wyoming, USA.

Shepherd's delight. Wellington, New Zealand.

Upon the rooftops. Southville, Bristol, UK.

And my favourite....

Ray of hope. Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, UK.

No matter where you are, at some point the sky will be beautiful.

Hope you're surviving the heat =]

Summer Solstice on an empty platform.

So tonight I've had Wimbledon and my laptop crashing (several times) to keep me occupied, but I'm finally round to my second post, if only to keep my first follower happy (thank you Jess!!)

Here are some pictures that I was inspired to take whilst staying with an aunt in the Lanarkshire countryside (Scotland) last week.

It happened to be Summer Solstice and being so far north, the sky's darkest point was a beautiful dusky shade. The empty train station opposite seemed so alluring.. so I investigated.. and away I shot =)

Hope you enjoyed, let me know if you'd like captions.... =]

So this is me.

Thought I would do the obvious and start with self portraits. Yep, that's me right there, lazing around my living room in the early hours of some date in April. I have a Digital SLR (Sony 200 - yes a Sony, sorry all you Canon lovers) and have been pretty glued to it since I got it last Christmas.

I've always loved photography and have travelled a lot, giving me oppertunity to take all the clichéd shots of myself stood infront of various well known landmarks. Yes, there are a lot, but since seeing the world through my SLR I shy away from these shots. I love new perspectives. Being surprised. Then capturing the moment forever.
I don't want this to turn into an essay!! I have promised myself I will use this blog to reveal a more creative side to me. Hopefully it will take me away from my nemesis yet addiction, Facebook, and bring me into this cyber community, who from what I've seen are lovely!
Any questions, just ask =]
I'll be back!
PS: I'm afraid the current affairs of death and publicity delayed this post by an hour.
